Dear Heavenly Father,
Why should I even bother tryin’ to lie
You know my heart and you know the reasons why
I’m coming to you now in my time of need
Finally able to conceive what I’ve believed for nearly all my life
But recently, what I’ve read has made me think twice
About what I was living for
Instead of being so eager to receive, I should have been giving more
If I’m truly your disciple, then I should have been fishing more
I didn’t have to rely on vision to know you’re real
But how could I be a Christian if I didn’t know your will?
On Sundays, I could sit and listen and still not understand
And that was before I was pushed away by the blunder of a man
I guess human nature got the upperhand
But now I realize the power of your Word
And how it applies to everything that I’m going through
So while I’m reading I’m seeking to forever grow in you

On my daily search,
You brought me to this Church
I must admit I was hesitant at first
But something about it just seemed right to me
Maybe it was the way one of the members invited me
Either way, I made steps to advance and give it a chance
At first glance, it seemed similar to what I was used to
A few differences, but nothing crucial
It wasn’t until we started studying the Scripture
That I began to see the big picture
Imagine the situation…
Apparently what I had been taught was incomplete
I had a foundation but it wasn’t concrete
Some of the things they showed me nearly blew me off my feet
And throughout all of this, all I could do was pray to you
And have faith that you would show me what was true
Sure enough with each week I learned something new
And as I grew I noticed how I changed
In ways that even those close to me found strange
I wasn’t content with the same watered down story
Not only did I want to know the Bible,
I wanted to live my life according to your message
But I still need answers to some vital questions…
What does it really mean to be saved?
Am I going to Heaven?

You and I become one through your ultimate sacrifice
My life is far from done, it’s just beginning
No longer living in sin; I’ve been forgiven
Received Spiritual cleansing
giving myself up to be your servant
Knowing all along I didn’t deserve it
And there’s nothing I did to earn it
Cuz it’s only through your grace that I had this opportunity in the first place
I wanted to be saved but I couldn’t see your face
Until you blessed me with discernment and the perfect attitude
Remembering what you said in Matthew’s Beattitudes
And no matter what I do I could never show you enough gratitude
So I rejoice in persecution
Grateful to no longer be trapped in confusion
You allowed me to see through the illusion Satan’s using
To lead many astray
So everyday I get on my knees and pray
That you continue to show me the way!
